
MANILA, Philippines — Scottie Thompson registered a triple-double effort as Barangay Ginebra clobbered defending champion San Miguel Beer, 105-91, to tie their PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup semifinal series at 2-2 on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The all-around Ginebra playmaker willed his team back to the series behind his career-high 35 points, while grabbing 11 rebounds and 11 assists, helping the Gin Kings mount a massive comeback after trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half.
The Gin Kings used two key spurts— a 30-19 offensive in the second period, before outgunning the Beermen, 33-16 in the last period for the lethal blow, sending the semifinal series back to square one.
Japeth Aguilar added 14 points and six rebounds while Norbert Torres and Jayson David added 13 and 12.
CJ Perez led SMB with 22, Chris Ross and Jericho Cruz added 20 and 15.
June Mar Fajardo, bothered by a shoulder injury, shot just 3-of-14 to finish with nine points, while managing to grab 20 rebounds.
