
TAWAU: A family of three, including the girlfriend of a man allegedly held captive and abused, have been arrested by police following an incident in Kampung Merotai Besar here at 10.30pm on Thursday.
District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin confirmed that all suspects, aged between 25 and 64, were apprehended by a police team from Bombalai Police Station after attempting to flee.
AdvertisementPolice also seized an iron, a mobile phone, and a sheathed samurai sword, all suspected to have been used during the alleged assault.
The victim, aged 27, reportedly sustained injuries to his head and suffered burns to his left arm during the ordeal.

Read more The incident is thought to have started on Tuesday when the victim, on his way home with his family, received a WhatsApp message from his girlfriend saying she was pregnant.
The following day, she asked him to visit her house, where he was allegedly detained, assaulted and threatened.
