PENAMPANG: Police have arrested three local men suspected of involvement in motorcycle theft cases around the district.
Penampang police chief Supt Sammy Newton said the suspects, aged between 17 and 25, were picked up by a police team during an operation in the district on August 10.
He added that police also seized a motorcycle and key believed to be linked to stolen property.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motor vehicle theft, which carries a jail sentence of not less than one year and up to seven years, as well as a fine upon conviction.
Sammy advised the public to take precautions by securing their vehicles with additional locks and parking in well-lit areas, while urging community members to report any suspicious activity immediately.
