PETALING JAYA - Three individuals believed to be drug addicts were arrested by the police following a mass DNA screening conducted at Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai, near here on Sunday.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the arrest of the three drug addicts who were residents in the housing area.

He said urine tests conducted on the three individuals tested positive for drugs.

However, he emphasised that all the individuals arrested had no connection to the investigation into the murder case of autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

"Coincidentally, during the mass DNA screening conducted by us (police), all three tested positive for drugs.

"As such, we detained them for further urine tests, but all three have no connection to the investigation of the late Zayn's murder," he said on Wednesday.

Yesterday, Hussein confirmed that the results of the mass DNA screening involving residents of Idaman Apartment are expected to be obtained within the next two or three days.

The DNA test was part of the mass screening involving residents of Idaman Apartment to trace the murderer.

Last Sunday, the police announced that a total of 228 individuals had undergone DNA testing, involving the examination of residential units and business premises around the Idaman Apartment area.

The examination involved 18 blocks housing 2,484 units in the residential area.
