TAMPARULI: Three members of a family were injured in a fire that destroyed a house in Kampung Minangkob, along Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, early Tuesday.
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station chief Kurong Ak Beki said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.38am.
He said a total of eight personnel were deployed to the scene, located 31 kilometres away, along with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle.
“Upon arriving at 3.04am, the firefighting team found a non-permanent house fully engulfed in flames and immediately began extinguishing the fire.
“The fire caused a 54-year-old woman to sustain injuries while escaping, a 36-year-old man to suffer an asthma attack, and a young girl to sustain burns to her leg,” he said when contacted.
Kurong said the fire also completely destroyed a Toyota Vios and a Perodua Viva, while a Proton Persona sustained about 25 per cent damage to its rear section due to radiant heat.
