A ROUTINE morning trip to send an infant to daycare turned into a fatal accident in Bukit Sentosa on Thursday, leaving an 88-year-old woman, an eight-month-old baby and a motorcyclist dead.

The crash occurred at about 8.58am along Jalan Bunga Kertas and involved a Perodua Bezza and a high-powered motorcycle.

Muhammad Akbar Abdul Sukor, 28, said the elderly victim was his grandmother, with whom he had shared a close bond since childhood.

Akbar, a relative of the victims, expressed shock at the tragedy. “I have sat with him since he was a baby, all the way to growing up. We were very close. I never imagined something like this would happen,” he said.

The infant who died in the crash was his nephew.

According to Akbar, the child’s grandparents had been taking him to daycare because the parents were at work.

“My parents and grandmother were the ones sending my nephew to daycare because my sister and her husband were working,” he explained.

Akbar said his father had been driving the family’s Perodua Bezza when the motorcycle struck the vehicle at high speed.

He learned of the incident after receiving a phone call from his sister, informing him that their family had been involved in a crash.

The collision killed the motorcyclist and Akbar’s grandmother at the scene, while the infant later succumbed to his injuries at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

His parents survived but sustained injuries and remain in emotional trauma.

“My mother just came out of the examination. She still cannot see with her left eye. My father has minor injuries but is in a state of trauma,” Akbar said. - March 12, 2026
