KUNAK: Three people were killed and three others injured after a Perodua Viva skidded off the road at Km7, Jalan Kunak-Semporna, on Tuesday evening.
Kunak District Police Chief Supt Rejali Angong said the 6.03pm incident involved a local man travelling with five passengers comprising two adults and three children from Kalabakan to their home in Kg Sg Langgas, Kunak.
“The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the location, causing it to skid off the road,” he told Daily Express.
Rejali said the driver and two passengers died at the scene, while another passenger was seriously injured and two others sustained minor injuries and were taken to Kunak Hospital for further treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while police urged witnesses to come forward to assist investigations.
