Kota Kinabalu: Three men were separately charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with voluntarily causing hurt to others.

Alsimal Jalaide, 33, Zawawi Jul, Md Iqbal Shahrul, both 27, pleaded not guilty before separate magistrates after their respective charges were read out to them.

Alsimal was accused of causing injuries to Muhammad Raiyan Faizal at 9.15am on Aug 13, this year, at a car park in front of a restaurant at One Borneo Hypermall.

Zawawi was alleged to have hurt Azlee Abdul Sani at 8am on July 15, at the office of a college, here.

Iqbal allegedly caused injuries to the same victim, Azlee, at the same place and time.

They were each charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

The prosecution, in applying for a pre-trial case management (ptcm) on Alsimar’s case, proposed bail at RM4,000 in two sureties.

Alsimal, who was unrepresented, requested a lower bail, saying he could not afford the amount as he had only been working as a parking attendant for two months.

In Zawawi’s case, the prosecution proposed bail at RM5,000 in two sureties while counsel Mohd Luqman Syazwan, representing Zawawi, requested a lower bail amount, saying that he is unemployed.

The court fixed Oct 15 for the ptcm date for Alsimal’s and released him on a bail of RM1,600 in two sureties.

In Zawawi and Iqbal’s cases, the court set Oct 16 for ptcm.

Zawawi and Iqbal, who was also represented by Luqman, were respectively offered bail at RM1,200 and RM1,500 each in two sureties.

Inspectors Mohamad Hamidi Mohamad Hamzah and Yusdi Basri prosecuted before Magistrates Dzul Elmy Yunus and Marilyn Kelvin.
