IPOH: Three local men have been remanded for two days to assist in the investigation into a fatal stabbing incident in Buntong.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the remand order against the suspects, aged between 24 and 34, was issued by a magistrate’s court.

He stated the three were arrested at the Buntong Public Market at about 5.30 pm on Monday.

A friend of the victim is receiving treatment at a government hospital, while another is at a private hospital.

Both are in stable but weak condition.

Initial investigations found the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding.

Police are continuing investigations to identify the exact cause.

A 23-year-old suspect was remanded for a week starting on Monday.

Police had earlier announced a 25-year-old local man was found with serious injuries in Buntong on Monday night.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the cause is believed to be a dispute between groups.

He clarified the incident involved a conflict within a particular group and was not related to racial issues.
