Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said investigators had obtained instructions to charge the three suspects under Section 302 read with Section 149 of the Penal Code.
SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested three more men in connection with a fatal group fight in Taman Alam Megah on Aug 25, leaving four others still being sought in the murder investigation.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said investigators had obtained instructions to charge the three suspects under Section 302 read with Section 149 of the Penal Code.
“Previously, seven individuals were wanted in connection with this case. Three have since been arrested, investigations have been conducted and we have obtained instructions to charge them.
“Four others are still being tracked down,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters here today.
Shazeli said information provided by members of the public after police circulated photographs of the wanted men had helped investigators make the latest arrests.
“We thank the public for providing information that led to the three latest arrests,” he said, urging the public to continue assisting police in locating the remaining four suspects.
He said there had been no new arrests in the separate Taman Sri Muda group fight, which is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
The developments follow the death of a 23-year-old Malaysian man after a group fight in Jalan Mandolin 33/5, Taman Alam Megah, on Aug 25.
Police said the clash was believed to have stemmed from a territorial dispute.
In the separate Taman Sri Muda case, a man was injured after allegedly being attacked by a group armed with suspected machetes and threatened with an object resembling a pistol.
Police attributed that incident to a misunderstanding and said the two cases were unrelated.
Eight men were charged in connection with the Alam Megah killing on Sept 4.
At a briefing on Sept 7, police said 21 Malaysian men aged between 23 and 46 had been arrested in connection with the two investigations. Eight had been charged in the murder case, while four were charged in connection with the Sri Muda rioting case.
Police were then seeking another seven men over the Alam Megah killing and three others over the Sri Muda incident.
