Three more political figures expected to be charged soon

THE country's political landscape is expected to experience another shake-up.

This time, it is not because of the sudden dissolution of a State Legislative Assembly, or an attempt to overthrow any leader, but legal action that will be taken against several prominent individuals.

Sources told Getaran - The Vibes sister Malay portal, that several political figures, including those who once held senior portfolios in the country's administration, will be charged soon.

According to the source, the three individuals are expected to be arrested and subsequently charged in court as early as next week.

“The arrest and prosecution against them is on charges of corruption and abuse of power.

"They will be arrested as soon as the investigation is completed in a little while," the source revealed.

The media yesterday reported that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will drag several more prominent individuals to court next week.

The source added that the investigation against them involves various cases and is not just focused on one offence.

"Wait until next week, and all questions should be answered.

“What I can say is that all actions are based on detailed, transparent and open investigations. It is not a conspiracy to bring anyone down.”

Corruption and abuse of power charges against figures or politicians in this country are not new; in fact, at the time of writing, some are still being tried.

What is certain is that next week’s prosecution is proof of the country’s seriousness in dealing with corruption and abuse of power among political leaders.

It will also be a benchmark for the new MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman, who has vowed to fight corruption at the grassroots. – June 13, 2026
