SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 - Police arrested three men for alleged gross indecency after they were filmed urinating by the side of the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) highway in Johor Bahru yesterday.
Johor Bahru Selatan deputy police chief Supt Ng Swie Chait said a police report was lodged at 6.11 pm after a video of the incident was detected on social media at 2 am yesterday.
He said the three suspects, aged between 28 and 36, were arrested at a restaurant in Taman Maju Jaya, Johor Bahru, at 9.30 pm yesterday.
“Police also seized a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) believed to be linked to the case.
“One of the three suspects has a previous criminal record. All three tested negative for drugs,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code for committing an act of gross indecency, which carries a jail term of up to two years upon conviction.
Ng said the investigation paper would be completed before being referred to the state Deputy Public Prosecutor.
Earlier, a 16-second video uploaded to a Facebook group showed three men stopping by the side of the highway to urinate, with their MPV parked nearby with its hazard lights on.
The video is believed to have been recorded by another highway user.
