Kota Kinabalu: Three locations in the State have been selected for the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar (BRR) initiative implementation, said Sabah Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Director Georgie Abas.
They are at Lintasan Deasoka (Kota Kinabalu), in front of Sabindo Plaza (Tawau) and Juara Sport Arena Ketiau (Putatan).
“BRR is the government’s latest initiative to reduce the cost of living for the people by providing a choice of meals for breaking-of-fast at a low and affordable price,” he said in a statement, Sunday.
This includes encouraging traders to provide various balanced food products based on the Rahmah Menu to visitors who attend the Ramadan Bazaars this year.
The BRR initiative is implemented through a strategic collaboration between KPDN and local authorities or the private sector without involving any cost implications to the government.
KPDN in collaboration with e-wallet service providers, Touch ‘n Go and Boost, are also offering e-cash incentives to 6,000 visitors in the form of e-wallets worth RM20.
Georgie said the initiative simultaneously expands the Retail Digitalisation Initiative (ReDI) which aims to ensure that small traders are not left behind in the cashless business model.
“This initiative also helps the retail sector in helping traders bounce back their economy with a variety of payment options in addition to an increased income during this festive season.
“The Sabah KPDN will also implement a Consumption Advocacy Program in the three BRRs through Quizzes and pamphlet distributions,” he said.
