
Kota Kinabalu: The average yield of paddy in the State last year was 3,460kg or 3.46 metric tonnes (MT) per hectare, said Agriculture and Fisheries Assistant Minister Hendrus Anding.
“The 3rd Sabah State Agriculture Policy (DPNS-3) targets a self-sufficiency level (SSL) for Sabah rice of 60 per cent by 2030,” he said in reply to a question by Bongawan Assemblyman Dr Daud Yusof.
In 2020, he said, Sabah only achieved 22.8 per cent SSL with 24,013 hectares of 20 paddy fields in Kota Belud, Kota Marudu, Keningau, Tambunan, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Ranau, Papar, Tenom, Sook, Kudat, Tuaran, Nabawan, Beaufort, Tongod, Beluran, Sipitang, Penampang, Putatan and Tawau.
