Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in several areas until noon

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan until 12pm today.

Inclement weather is expected in Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu in Kedah, as well as across Penang.

In Perak, the affected areas are Kerian; Larut, Matang dan Selama; Manjung, and Bagan Datuk, while Rompin in Pahang is also expected to experience similar conditions.

The warning also covers Jempol and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan, the whole of Melaka, as well as Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru in Johor.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Tatau and Bintulu in the Bintulu Division, as well as Subis, Miri, and Marudi in the Miri Division.

Labuan is also expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds during the period.

MetMalaysia advised the public to remain alert to weather changes and obtain the latest updates through the department’s official channels.
