I have high respect and admiration for a former national rugby player, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Utama Ooi Huat Beng, in loving rugby and his alma mater, King Edward VII Secondary School (KE7) Taiping, where he picked up the game. So, it is most fitting for businessman Tan Sri Ooi who's the Treasurer, ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) to take up the helm of Old Edwardians Association Malaysia (OEAM). Old Edwardians are known as Tigers. (smkevii.edu.my)

Tiger Tan Sri Ooi, who played rugby for KE7, Perak State and Malaysia, spends more than RM100,000 a year to promote the game. He has been steadily organizing the two-day Edwardian 10s tournament at the Taiping esplanade for many years. It has become a favorite of rugby enthusiasts like the Tigers and attracts teams throughout the nation. He's the Chairman of SNI Global Group told me “I just want to promote the game and spur our youth interest. I can honestly say that from rugby, I learned to be tough, discipline and perseverance. If you don't train well without tough mental and physical discipline."

Tan Sri Ooi who I met last Sunday at OEAM Fundraising Hi-Tea in Ipoh, added “Rugby helped built my hidden character and business success, so since I've already benefitted, I want to give back to the game, alma mater & society by promoting rugby. Therefore, I'm now roaring laud for the fundraising hi-tea.”

I understand Tan Sri Ooi is the Founder of SNI Global Group based in Malaysia, with its head office at Subang Jaya. Its mission is providing the best quality of health and beauty products. “With the most advance technology & extensive knowledge of colostrum, it becomes the pioneer to formulate skincare. It also expands another line of business that focuses on food and beverage for exports to various countries in the Asian-Pacific region, Nigeria, and China.” (info@sniglobalgroup.com)
