  • Tiger Woods announced he will step away from golf to seek treatment and focus on his health, in his first public statement following his involvement in a car crash last week.
  • He pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) charges after his Land Rover collided with a pick-up truck in Florida.
  • According to a police affidavit released on Tuesday, police observed Woods “sweating profusely” and acting “lethargic and slow” with “bloodshot and glassy” eyes, and found hydrocodone pills in his vehicle.
  • Woods admitted to “looking down at his cell phone and changing the radio station” before the crash, and refused a urinary drug test.
  • This incident follows previous arrests for DUI in 2017 and a serious car accident in 2021 which resulted in multiple leg injuries.
