
Auckland House School (AHS) came alive with excitement, colour and boundless energy as its LPD Sports Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm.
A total of 22 events were conducted for students from Nursery to Form II. The competitions included apple race, pear race, mango race, colour matching race, cap race, no-drop ball race, hold together the book race, caterpillar race, hula hoop cone race, dressing-up race, two minds two hands race, treasure hunt, three-legged race, duck race, skating and musical chairs. Special races for parents also added to the festive atmosphere and witnessed enthusiastic participation.
One of the major highlights of the day was the colourful umbrella PT display presented by Form I students and the vibrant tambourine PT display by Form II students. The gymnastics display by students of Form I and II also drew loud applause from parents and guests, reflecting the children’s discipline, balance and coordination.
Kamayani Bisht, principal, Government College of Fine Arts (formerly JLNGC Fine Arts College), Shimla, was the chief guest while Reuben T John, principal, Auckland House School for Boys, attended the event as the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Bisht appreciated the school for creating opportunities that nurtured not only academic excellence but also physical fitness, confidence and teamwork among children. She lauded the enthusiasm displayed by the young participants and emphasised that sports played a vital role in shaping resilient, disciplined and well-rounded individuals from an early age.
Speaking on the occasion, the school’s principal, Samarki Samantha Roy said the event provided a vibrant platform for young learners to showcase their physical abilities, confidence, coordination and sportsmanship through a series of fun-filled races and drill displays.
Highlighting the importance of sports in holistic education, she said that events such as Sports Day help children develop confidence, perseverance, leadership qualities and a healthy competitive spirit. She commended the students for their spirited participation and thanked the parents and staff for their unwavering support in making the event a grand success.
The event concluded with a prize distribution, during which winning students were felicitated with prizes.
