JOHOR BAHRU - The Johor government will conduct a thorough investigation into the controversial Network School operating in Forest City, with firm action to be taken if any violations of laws or licensing conditions are uncovered.

Speaking publicly for the first time since the issue was highlighted, Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said matters concerning the entry of foreign nationals into Malaysia fall under the jurisdiction of the Home Ministry.

“In regards to the recent issue involving Network School at Forest City, all matters relating to the entry of foreign nationals into this country fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs," he said in  a statement at midnight.  However, he stressed that the Johor government, together with the local authorities, would carry out its own comprehensive investigation into the matter.

“Should any violations of the law, licensing conditions or regulations be found, firm action will be taken, including the revocation of the company’s operating licence or permit in Johor,” Tunku Ismail said.

His statement, issued on late Friday, comes amid growing public scrutiny surrounding Network School, a technology-focused residential learning community based in Forest City, following allegations involving the presence of foreign nationals, including claims that Israeli citizens had entered Malaysia using passports from other countries.

The issue has prompted investigations by federal authorities and calls from several quarters for stricter enforcement.
