KUALA LUMPUR – “Melaka is not long from now, just a little time left.”

That was the message from Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, popularly known as Tok Mat, as he rallied party members on Saturday to prepare for the coming Melaka state election.

Pointing to Umno’s recent electoral successes in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, Mohamad urged members to remain united and maintain party discipline as Umno navigates potentially difficult political negotiations ahead.

“Consolidate our consensus. Let us negotiate properly. Do not sacrifice our dignity,” he told delegates.

Mohamad also reminded members of Umno’s founding purpose, stressing that the party was not established through the charity or goodwill of others, but to champion the Malays and Islam.

He said the party leadership, together with its volunteers and grassroots machinery, would mount a concerted campaign in Melaka.

“The wave will come down together in Melaka,” he said, urging members to move as one.

Mohamad also thanked party workers and supporters who had contributed to Umno’s victories in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

“Thank you very much to those who helped in Johor and Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
