Tom Kim had a week to remember at the US Open, where he finished just three shots behind champion Wyndham Clark.

Kim ended his tournament with a one-under 279 after rounds of 70, 67, 72 and 70, resulting in a solo third finish.

It was a truly superb display from the 24-year-old, who really impressed despite the challenging conditions in Long Island.

New York’s Shinnecock Hills played host to the US Open, where wind helped create a very difficult challenge for the world’s top golfers.

But Kim can hold his head very high after his fantastic week, which he has now summarized on his social media.

Sharing images of his time at Shinnecock, Kim posted on his Instagram: “I felt it in my fingertips, I reached as far as I could but just slipped out of my hands…

“I walk away feeling so grateful for the opportunity and the fans in NY for rooting me on and celebrating my 24th with me today.”

Sunday’s final round did indeed coincide with his 24th birthday, with Scottie Scheffler also turning 30 on the same day.

Scheffler partnered with Clark in the final round of the major championship, and finished one shot behind Kim in a tie for fourth.

Tom Kim continues impressive US Open record

It’s been an intriguing time of late for Kim, who should be really proud of keeping the pressure on Clark until the very end.

But it means another wait for a major maiden win, while his last PGA Tour victory arrived at the Shriners Children’s Open back in 2023.

This season, he’s made the cut in 13 of his 15 starts, but has only just claimed his first top five finish of 2026.

His bogey on the 17th on Sunday may haunt him for a brief period, but the overall feeling should be satisfaction and excitement for what is to come.

Across his 72 holes at Shinnecock Hills, Kim recorded 16 birdies, 42 pars, 13 bogeys and one double bogey.

That helped him continue his fantastic record at the US Open, which began when he tied for 23rd on his debut at The Country Club in 2022.

He finished T8 the following year, with a T33 at Oakmont in 2025 representing his worst result from his five appearances so far.
