
Kota Kinabalu: An ex-model who was in the limelight for indecent exposure in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur, eight years ago was fined RM20 or a day’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court here for public nuisance in a restaurant here last week.
Persana Avril Sollunda, 40, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to being drunk and behaving improperly, causing annoyance to others outside Restoran Kinsley, Damai Plaza, at 8.40pm on Jan 6.
The offence, under Section 510 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 10 days or fine of up to RM20, or both, on conviction.
Earlier, the prosecution in tendering the facts of the case, told the court that the police went to the said place after receiving a call from the public about a female customer who was drunk and causing trouble outside the restaurant.
Upon reaching the location, the police found several female employees of the restaurant restraining a female customer, later identified as Persana, who was also hurling profanities at members of the public.
Persana was then arrested for being drunk and disturbing public order, the court heard.
Investigations revealed Persana had consumed too much alcohol making her difficult to control herself.
Unrepresented, Persana requested leniency and said she was unemployed.
Inspector Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit, applied for an adequate sentence as a lesson to Persana and to public.
Suzie also informed the court that Persana was a wanted person in a narcotics case in Dang Wangi police headquarters, Kuala Lumpur.
Persana paid the fine.
On April 28, 2015, Persana was charged at Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court with public indecency for appearing topless in Petaling street.
She was later released on a two-year RM4,000 good behaviour bond on Jan 20, 2016.
In another case, a 32-year-old man was charged with threatening to hurt a man.
Md Yusof Jatlee pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to criminally intimidating one Iltizam Tokijoh at 10am on Dec 27, last year at Kg Rampayan, Manggatal.
The charge is framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik, in applying for mention date proposed bail at RM6,000 in two sureties.
Yusof was offered bail at RM2,500 in two sureties pending pre-trial case management on Feb 21.
