MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Nicholas Torre III on Wednesday urged the public to remain vigilant after seven Grade 5 students were injured in a stabbing incident allegedly involving a Grade 8 student inside Bethel Academy School in Barangay Sta. Clara, General Trias City, Cavite.
Initial police information showed the incident occurred around 8 a.m. inside a Grade 5 classroom, where the Grade 8 student allegedly entered and attacked younger students using a bladed weapon.
Two of the injured students were reported to be in critical condition, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Torre said the incident serves as a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility and that early intervention remains one of the most effective ways to prevent violence.
He urged parents, teachers, students, and school personnel to immediately report threats, bullying, alarming behavior, or other safety concerns to school authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Torre also reminded communities to take seriously warning signs that may affect students’ safety and well-being, stressing the importance of open communication, responsible reporting, and timely intervention.
“Individuals who observe situations requiring government assistance may coordinate with school authorities, local law enforcement agencies, emergency services, or available government reporting channels, including the MMDA 136 Hotline.” Torre said.
He said cooperation among communities can help create safer schools, safer communities, and a safer Metro Manila.
