Tottenham booed off as historic goal drought continues in goalless Everton draw

  • Tottenham Hotspur drew 0-0 with Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, extending their goal drought to over six hours across four top-flight matches to start the Premier League season for the first time in history.
  • Former Spurs player Jamie Redknapp labelled the club's goalscoring record "diabolical" on Sky Sports, pointing out that a squad benefiting from £300m in summer investment should not have such severe attacking problems.
  • Despite a bright start and heavy spending on new players such as Savio, Omar Marmoush, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali, Tottenham failed to consistently trouble Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the stadium's first ever goalless draw.
  • Unhappy home supporters booed Tottenham off at the final whistle as the result left the team 17th in the Premier League table, the same position where they concluded their previous two seasons.
  • The goalless draw lifted Everton to seventh in the Premier League standings, placing them level on points with Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
