Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Sarr has been handed a six-month driving ban after he was caught exceeding the speed limit in a 20mph zone in north London.
The 24-year-old Senegal international was behind the wheel of a Mercedes G-Class AMG when it was recorded travelling at 25mph along Green Lanes, near Finsbury Park in Haringey, shortly after 2.30pm on 23 February. The incident took place the day after Spurs suffered a 4-1 defeat by Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Sarr pleaded guilty to the offence through the single justice procedure, which allows cases to be processed in private. During a closed hearing on Thursday, Magistrate David Marritt, sitting at Bromley Magistrates’ Court, issued the six-month disqualification.
The footballer was also ordered to pay a £666 fine, alongside £130 in court costs and a £266 victim surcharge. According to court records, Sarr initially confirmed he was the driver when contacted by the Metropolitan Police.

While he was given the option to resolve the matter out of court with a fixed penalty in June, he failed to pay, leading the Met to initiate a criminal prosecution. The case went forward despite police submitting illegible images of Sarr's driving licence to the court.
Sarr offered no mitigating factors alongside his written guilty plea, providing the contact details of a Tottenham Hotspur official instead. The court files do not state whether he had prior penalty points on his licence.
Since joining Spurs in 2021, Sarr has made over 100 appearances for the Premier League side. Last month, he joined Juventus on loan after new midfield signings reduced his first-team opportunities.
In his absence, Tottenham have made a disastrous start to the season, failing to win any of their opening five matches. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been beaten by Brentford, Newcastle and Aston Villa, while being held to goalless draws by Nottingham Forest and Everton.
With the Premier League set to resume this weekend, Spurs are currently bottom of the table, below Fulham on goal difference. Tottenham are due to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, with both needs desperately needing to get a win on the board.
