SHAH ALAM – An eight-minute short film shared on the official Facebook page of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof is striking a chord with Malaysians as the country celebrates National Day.
Released in conjunction with the 2026 Hari Kebangsaan celebrations and themed “Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, the film takes an intimate storytelling approach instead of relying on grand spectacle.

The narrative centers on veteran actor Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, who portrays a grandfather spending quiet moments with his granddaughter, played by rising child star Zarra Zhaf.
Through their gentle dialogue, the film explores the core pillars of independence, highlighting themes of sacrifice, unity, and shared responsibility.
Rather than relying on traditional speeches or parades, the piece frames the spirit of Merdeka through everyday personal interactions and enduring values.
In an accompanying statement, Datuk Seri Fadillah reminded the public of their collective responsibility to the nation.
He urged Malaysians to safeguard the country's sovereignty, respect diverse perspectives, and foster togetherness so that the nation continues to shine internationally.
He further called on everyone to reignite their loyalty to the homeland and fly the Jalur Gemilang with pride.
The video serves as an initiative by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra) to deliver a message of patriotism that extends beyond symbolic gestures.
Members of the public can view the full clip across Petra's official social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X.
