An elderly woman was left traumatised after the doorknob of the room she was in failed to function, causing her to become trapped inside.
Thankfully, firefighters from the Damansara Fire and Rescue Station not only freed her from the room but also took the time to comfort the elderly woman, who was traumatised by the incident.

According to a Facebook post by the Damansara Fire and Rescue Station, the elderly woman had become trapped in the room on Sunday (9 November), and they managed to free her at about 2:21 PM the same day.
They wrote, “Helped a victim trapped in a room, a senior citizen in her 70s was left traumatised because the door handle of the room failed to function and could not be opened. Firefighters were called, and they managed to open the door and calm the victim down.”

While the Damansara Fire and Rescue Station shared an image of the door handle that had been broken off to assist the elderly woman trapped in the room, they also showcased how their firefighters held the clearly traumatised elderly woman, who was sitting on the floor of the room, while comforting her.
A female firefighter held the elderly woman gently while another firefighter reassuringly placed his hand on her shoulder.
Another person, not in a firefighter’s uniform, was also seen holding the elderly woman’s hand to comfort her.
The heartwarming scene shows that our firefighters not only know how to help people in difficult situations but also in comforting those in emotional and psychological distress. A huge kudos to the firefighters!
