Tour de France 2028 to start in Reims

The 115th edition of the Tour de France will begin on June 24 in Reims, organizers said in a statement on Monday.

It will mark the return of the Grand Depart to French soil after two years abroad. This year's Tour will being in Barcelona and in 2027 the peloton is to set off from Edinburgh.

Due to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the 2028 Tour will begin a week earlier. The final stage to Paris will take place on July 16.

A Leipzig-based initiative is bidding to host the Grand Depart in 2029. According to current plans, the Tour is set to begin in Berlin, 40 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and then proceed through eastern Germany over three additional stages.
