SHAH ALAM - In a series of eloquent potshots, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar did not mince words in describing the leadership style of those governing Putrajaya: that they were all talk, no action.
Speaking at a night husting, held conjunction with the 69th Pas Muktamar, here tonight, Samsuri hurled veiled volleys against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over the latter’s purportedly frequent jet-set travels.
“The country is plagued by a lot of problems. Those in the government should formulate plans to solve them first, instead of flying abroad to United States, to China.
“Yet the people’s problems continues to be unresolved. Solving problems requires thinking and actions. Mere talks and promises won’t cut it,” he said.
Samsuri added that if talking was enough to solve problems, “even cows would be able to fly.”
“When Pas took over Terengganu, the state government looked to be in a good shape from the outside but it wasn’t rosy at all when we entered it.
“In it, there were no beds, no kitchen. There were toilets but it wasn’t really working. Couldn’t flush. We had limited funds but a lot to repairs needed to be done,” was Samsuri’s metaphor on the state that Terengganu was in when Pas won it after besting Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election in 2018.
The 69th Pas Muktamar began today and will end on Sunday. This was Pas’s second Muktamar that was held in Selangor after 10 years.
