The royal wedding of Pahang Prince, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, and his bride, Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan, promises to be a grand and culturally rich affair, stretching over five days of elaborate ceremonies. The celebrations are set to commence tomorrow, marking the beginning of a series of traditional rituals that will blend the state's rich heritage with royal splendor.

According to the Comptroller of the Pahang Royal Household, Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya, the wedding ceremonies will officially begin with the Istiadat Meletak Kerja (the initiation of duties ceremony) at Istana Abdulaziz. This important ritual marks the formal commencement of the wedding events and holds significant cultural value. The ceremony will be heralded by the firing of 16 cannon shots at 9:30 AM tomorrow, a symbolic gesture to mark the start of the royal wedding festivities.

Tengku Panglima Raja Brigadier General Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah, a key member of the royal family, will play a central role in the opening ceremony. He is scheduled to read the Proclamation of Duties, followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the royal flag, which signifies the beginning of the official duties related to the wedding.

Later in the day, the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and his wife, Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, will grace an evening religious event. At 6:30 PM, a special Yasin recital, tahlil, and doa selamat will take place at Masjid Negeri Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah 1. This gathering is not only a royal tradition but also an important religious moment, offering prayers for the couple’s happiness and the smooth running of the upcoming wedding ceremonies.

One of the most anticipated moments of the wedding will occur on Thursday, October 24, when the bride's father, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, is scheduled to officiate the solemnisation of the marriage at Balai Mahkota Istana Abdulaziz at 8:00 PM. This formal declaration of marriage will mark the official union of the royal couple in the eyes of both tradition and religion.

The following days will be packed with more rituals, each steeped in tradition and symbolic meaning. On Friday, the Istiadat Berinai (the application of henna ceremony) will take place, showcasing the beauty of traditional Pahang customs. Henna application is a time-honored practice at Malay weddings, symbolizing blessings and protection for the bride as she embarks on her new journey.

The pinnacle of the wedding celebrations will be the Istiadat Persandingan Diraja (the royal wedding reception) on Sunday, which will also begin at 8:00 PM. This grand event will be held at Istana Abdulaziz, where the royal couple will sit on a dais, or "pelamin," and be presented to their guests. This moment will allow the newlyweds to be officially honored and celebrated by members of the royal family, dignitaries, and guests from all over the country and beyond.

In addition to these key events, the royal wedding will also feature other important Pahang rituals, including the Istiadat Santap Nasi Adap-Adapan (the ceremonial meal), the Istiadat Bersiram (the ceremonial bathing), and the Istiadat Menutup Kerja (the completion of duties ceremony), which will take place on October 28. These rituals serve to honor the deep cultural roots of the state of Pahang and add an air of tradition and formality to the celebrations.

The closing of the royal wedding events will be marked by the lowering of the ceremonial flag by Tengku Amir Nasser. This symbolic gesture will signify the conclusion of all duties related to the wedding. Once again, 16 cannon shots will be fired by the Royal Malaysia Police, a customary gesture to formally end the wedding celebrations. The ceremony will conclude with prayers led by the Mufti of Pahang, Prof. Datuk Asmadi Mohamed Naim, asking for blessings upon the royal couple and their new life together.

For the public, the royal wedding ceremonies will be broadcast live on two giant screens—one located at the Kuantan City Council Square and the other at the Royal Museum Square in Pekan. These locations will not only provide the people of Pahang and visitors a chance to witness the grandeur of the royal wedding but will also feature various exciting activities, making it a true community celebration.

With so many rich cultural elements, from the firing of cannons to the religious ceremonies, and the prestigious guest list, the royal wedding of Prince Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah and Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan is set to be a remarkable event that will be remembered in the history of the Pahang royal family. Each ceremony reflects a deep reverence for tradition and the royal customs of Pahang, marking the union of the couple in a way that honors both their families and the heritage of their state.
