Checks along the route from Simpang Renggam to Johor Bahru found that although traffic volume had increased, vehicles were still moving steadily.

KULAI: Traffic flow along the North-South Expressway (PLUS Highway) heading towards Johor Bahru remained smooth as of 10am today, despite an increase in the number of vehicles on the road.

Checks along the route from Simpang Renggam to Johor Bahru found that although traffic volume had increased, vehicles were still moving steadily and no major congestion was reported.

However, traffic heading out of Johor Bahru was noticeably slower, with motorists encountering heavier traffic along several stretches of the highway.

Based on observations, the heavier outbound traffic is believed to be due to voters travelling from Johor Bahru to their respective districts to cast their ballots in the Johor state election.

The election involves 2,727,926 registered voters eligible to cast their ballots across Johor’s 56 state constituencies, with polling taking place today.

Earlier, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) advised motorists to plan their journeys accordingly, as traffic conditions may vary throughout the day, particularly along routes connecting Johor Bahru with other districts.

More than 300,000 outstation voters are also expected to return to Johor for the state election, which could contribute to higher traffic volumes on major highways.

Motorists can obtain real-time traffic updates and information on highway incidents through LLM’s official channels and social media platforms.
