
Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old man, who was charged with trafficking 239.1gm of syabu, will go on trial on Feb 26-29, next year.
High Court Judge Datuk Faridz Gohim Abdullah fixed the date for Hafifi Idris during the mention of his case on Tuesday.
Hafifi was accused of committing the offence at 1.30pm on Oct 17, 2022 in front of the Pos Laju Lok Kawi Building at Lok Kawi Industrial Estate, Jalan Lok Kawi, Papar. He was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the death sentence or imprisonment for life and whipping not less than 15 strokes if not sentenced to death, on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Afiq Agoes prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Luqman Syazwan Zabidi Mohd and Shahlan Jufri.

Saiful Bahari Sarni pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to stealing a handphone belonging to Azry Liman at 9.30pm on Aug 18 at Putatan Police Station.
The court was informed by the prosecution that Saiful tried to sell the gadget, which he had stolen a day earlier at a shop in Putatan.
Unrepresented, Saiful requested leniency.
Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik, prosecuting applied for an adequate sentence and for Saiful to be referred to the Immigration Department as he has no valid documentation.
The court ordered Saiful to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest and be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter. Saiful was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine, on conviction.
