A TRAILER driver endured a harrowing ordeal after being abducted by three men and driven some 34 kilometres from Bentong to Raub before being left bound and blindfolded by the roadside late last night.
Raub District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman said the incident occurred at about 11.30pm and came to light when a passer-by found the victim, whose hands were tied, calling for help near Taman Sri Wawasan in Raub.
“A police patrol team later took the victim to the Raub District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action,” he said in a statement tonight.
Initial investigations revealed that the 37-year-old driver had been transporting a load of steel from Balakong, Selangor, to Gua Musang, Kelantan. He reportedly stopped at a roadside eatery on the Bentong–Raub border to bathe and change clothes before he was attacked.
“After finishing his bath, the victim was approached by three men who tied his hands using cable ties before forcing him into a car.
“After about an hour in the vehicle, he was dropped off by the roadside near Taman Sri Wawasan with his eyes covered using black adhesive tape,” Mohd Shahril said.
He added that the suspects’ main motive was believed to be stealing the trailer carrying the steel cargo.
“The victim did not suffer any injuries and is now in stable condition. The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery,” he said.
Mohd Shahril also advised motorists, particularly long-haul drivers, to remain alert and cautious when stopping at isolated locations at night.
“Anyone with information about the incident or suspicious individuals can contact the Raub Police Operations Room at 09-355 2222,” he added. - October 26, 2025
