
A TRAINEE doctor was found dead in a hostel at Hospital Sultan Ismail Petra here on Friday, with police saying initial investigations found no indication of foul play.
Kuala Krai district police chief Superintendent Mazlan Mamat said authorities were alerted to the incident after receiving a call from the hospital at 9.55am.
Officers from the district Criminal Investigation Department, together with personnel from the Kuala Krai police station, were dispatched to the scene to conduct further inquiries.
“Preliminary investigations at the scene found that the incident occurred in one of the rooms at the HSIP hostel,” Mazlan said in a statement on Saturday.
“The victim, a 29-year-old trainee doctor, was found dead in the bathroom.”
Mazlan said police investigations at the location did not uncover any criminal elements linked to the death.
The body was later taken to the hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem examination.
“The cause of death was due to pressure on the neck and the case is being investigated as a sudden death report,” he said.
