Arsenal are preparing a huge bid for Bruno Guimaraes as the Premier League champions chase more reinforcements in a busy summer at the club. Guimaraes is a long-time target, and is said to be keen on a move to London – though Newcastle United have already let Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali go this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s side are also set to sign a centre-back this summer after it was confirmed that Premier League title winner William Saliba has been ruled out for an “extended period” with a back injury. The Gunners could turn to Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa or former Manchester City centre-back John Stones, who is available as a free agent, while they have announced the signing of 24-year-old forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.
Manchester United are still interested in adding another midfielder after signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans and have “reached an agreement in principle” with France international Manu Kone, according to reports in Italy. Aurelien Tchouameni remains a target, too. Alejandro Garnacho has joined Aston Villa on loan from Chelsea, after their record signing of Morgan Rogers.
Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has set out his targets for the transfer window and has confirmed the Reds “definitely need to sign a winger”. Liverpool have now reportedly turned their attention towards Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, who is also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain, while PSG’s Bradley Barcola is also still a target.

He has also been a long-term target for Real Madrid, and the Daily Mail are reporting that Rodri is now set to push for a move to the Spanish giants following the World Cup.
The report adds that any move for Rodri could have a knock-on effect for several players, including Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, both of whom have been linked with Manchester United as they target another midfielder this summer.
Rodri, who is 30 and has one year left on his Manchester City contract, is said to be keen on a return to Spain and it would be a popular move for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to make following his heroics at the World Cup.
Rodri, though, is also set to miss the start of the season due to a back injury.

However, the BBC have reported that Scott has rejected a new contract and has told Bournemouth that he is not willing to agree a new deal. The BBC report states that Chelsea’s bid was £64m but Bournemouth do not want to sell.
His current deal runs until 2028, so Bournemouth are not under pressure to sell this summer, having turned down one approach from Chelsea already.
Arsenal and Manchester United are also very interested as they seek help in the engine room and it would be a coup if any of the trio could prise Scott away from the south coast.
Andoni Iraola wants Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson to stay

Iraola said Alisson was one of the senior players who could help the club in a transition period, while praising Mac Allister and saying he wants to keep him.
“We need the references like Virgil (van Dijk), like Alisson, like Joe Gomez, players that have been here for a long time. And I’m sure we will have this help, yes.”
He added: “I think Alexis has been one of the best players of the club last year and has had a very good World Cup. It is normal that other clubs want our best players, our good players, it always happens in other markets.
“But I want to, also as other clubs want, I want to keep my good players. Probably I’m looking forward more to signing new players than the ones we have here.”

The former Manchester City manager had been in talks with the Italian Football Federation over the role.
But the 55-year-old informed Italy on Thursday night that he would not be taking the job due to “personal reasons that go beyond football”, Sky Italy reported.
Guardiola said before his City exit that he wasn’t planning on taking a new job “for a while”, citing a lack of “energy” - just as his rival Jurgen Klopp said when he departed Liverpool.
Klopp, 59, was on Friday unveiled as the new head coach of Germany, which is his first managerial position since leaving Liverpool two years ago. Klopp has said he feels “recharged”.

Arsenal are set to accelerate their interest in the Brazil international but Newcastle have been reportedly angered by the Gunners’ approach, as they are yet to contact Newcastle directly with a bid.
Guimaraes wants to leave the club this summer but Newcastle are also being guided by the £100m fee Tottenham paid for their Italy international midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Newcastle have sold both Anthony Gordon and Tonali to big-money transfers, while captain Bruno Guimaraes is heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
The Magpies have so far signed goalkeeper Ewen Jaoue, winger Bazoumana Toure and midfielder Sean Steur.
“He’s another exciting, young signing who we’re really looking forward to working with,” Eddie Howe told Newcastle’s website.

Vicario was not included in Spurs’ 35-man touring party which started the journey to New Zealand on Thursday morning. A club statement confirmed a “minor injury” meant the Italy international stayed back in England.
