The summer transfer window rolls on as Premier League clubs and those around Europe look to add to their squads ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Liverpool are in advanced talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Hugo Ekitike. The former Paris Saint-Germain player has a €100m (£86m) release clause and it is expected that Ekitike would want to make the switch to Anfield and that personal terms could be agreed with the 23-year-old.

Liverpool concentrated their attentions on Ekitike after asking about Alexander Isak but Newcastle have long taken the view their top scorer is not for sale. The Reds have also rejected a £58.5m bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz though the Bundesliga champions are said to be preparing a second offer for the winger.

Arsenal’s negotiations for Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres had stalled due to a difference in valuation and terms, though the Gunners are now in the process of completing a move for the Sweden striker after a breakthrough in talks. It has been similar news regarding Noni Madueke too, with the Chelsea winger undergoing his medical over the weekend.

Nottingham Forest are considering legal action against Tottenham Hotspur over what they believe could be an illegal approach for Morgan Gibbs-White. Manchester United continue to focus on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo and have made an improved offer for the Brentford forward, though there remains plenty of focus on outgoings as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho near the exit door.

All the latest updates, rumours and done deals will be covered in the blog below:

Thomas Frank has a seismic job on his hands to rebuild Tottenham and lead the freshly-crowned European champions into a new era.

Spurs come into the summer off the back of success in the Europa League final - a first trophy in 17 years, delivered by Ange Postecoglou.

However, silverware was not enough to save the Aussie’s job after what was otherwise a catastrophic campaign, with Tottenham finishing 17th in the Premier League on just 38 points.

Frank was sounded out as Daniel Levy’s first choice to replace Postecoglou in the dugout, with the Dane winning his fair share of admirers over a seven-year spell at the Brentford helm.

First on the docket for Frank is to bolster Spurs’ problem-laden squad over the coming weeks, building a team capable of surging back up the table, and the capture of West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus for £55m is the first step in doing that.

Here’s everything you need to know about Tottenham’s summer transfer plans.

Man United bid to break Bryan Mbeumo deadlock with improved offer for Brentford forward

Chris Wilson

Manchester United have made a third bid for Bryan Mbeumo, raising their offer of up to £70m, including add-ons.

United are willing to pay Brentford an initial £65m for the Cameroon international, with the possibility of a further £5m, depending on how the forward fares at Old Trafford.

Brentford had wanted a sum in excess of the £62.5m United paid Wolves for their first summer signing, Matheus Cunha, noting that Mbeumo scored more Premier League goals than the Brazilian last season.

Man United transfer news: Bryan Mbeumo, Hugo Ekitike, Corentin Tolisso and more

16:17

,

Chris Wilson

Manchester United face a crucial summer as Ruben Amorim finally gets the chance to shape his squad and transform his failing team into contenders at the top end of the table.

The release of the Premier League fixtures shows a difficult start for United, with an opening game agasint Arsenal and fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea within their first five matches of 2025/26, and the manager’s future could be called into question early should his side struggle.

United got some early business done with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5m deal, but among interest in other targets including Bryan Mbeumo, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made clear that the money pot is not deep.

Offloading high-wage players such as Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho seems key to funding the revolution, with a lack of movement causing frustration among fans as United lag behind their rivals.

Here’s everything you need to know about Manchester United’s summer transfer plans.

Arsenal’s biggest weakness is clear – here’s how Viktor Gyokeres can solve it

14:26

,

Chris Wilson

Arsenal’s history could have been very different without Harry Woods. Without him, there may have been no Herbert Chapman, no trio of league titles in the 1930s, no status as London’s biggest club.

Arsenal narrowly avoided relegation in 1923-24. They only won 12 league games that season. Woods scored in six of them. He was Arsenal’s top scorer.

He also got a mere nine league goals. Which had a renewed pertinence more than a century later when Kai Havertz emulated him: for the first time in 101 years, Arsenal had no player in double figures for league goals.

Liverpool told Alexander Isak not for sale as Newcastle target Yoane Wissa

13:58

,

Richard Jolly

Liverpool concentrated their attentions on Hugo Ekitike after asking about Alexander Isak but Newcastle have long taken the view their top scorer is not for sale.

However, Liverpool’s approach for Ekitike could be a blow for the Carabao Cup winners, who had bid for him themselves in their attempts to strengthen their forward line.

Newcastle have reportedly turned to Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa instead as they look for a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left St James’ Park when his contract expired.

Jude Bellingham is expected to be sidelined until October after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The Real Madrid and England midfielder had the surgery after his club’s elimination from this summer’s Club World Cup to treat a recurring dislocation of his left shoulder.

The surgery is set to sideline him until October, but the Spanish club did not confirm any length of absence, saying only that Bellingham would now “begin a period of rehabilitation prior to his return to recovery work”.

Real Madrid said the surgery had been performed by Drs Manuel Leyes and Andrew Wallace, under the supervision of the club’s Medical Services.

Alexander Isak and the difficult choice Newcastle must make

12:54

,

Chris Wilson

For Newcastle United, no news was good news. There was gossip, much of it tedious and tiresome, but no concrete developments when it came to Alexander Isak. They could reflect on Arsenal’s choice between Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko with some satisfaction: it is no secret that Isak has admirers at the Emirates Stadium but the Gunners accepted they could not get a forward who often scores against them.

The prospect, whether more of a possibility than a probability, of an offer from Liverpool would alter that. Any such bid would bring a decision that would define Newcastle’s summer; their season, too. For now, what can be said is that there has been no direct contact between the clubs. Newcastle’s stance has long been that Isak is not for sale, though Liverpool’s similar position when it comes to Luis Diaz has not stopped Bayern Munich from bidding for the Colombian.

'Man Utd’s move for Mbeumo stalls after Brentford raise asking price'

12:24

,

Chris Wilson

Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has hit a stumbling block after Brentford raised their valuation of the Cameroon forward towards £70m, according to reports.

Mbeumo, 25, has been the subject of prolonged interest from United and the club have seen two bids rejected by Brentford, with the latter worth £60m.

However, negotiations have not progressed since that second bid in late June, despite Mbeumo telling United that he wants to join, with figures at the club previously having thought that a package totalling £65m would be enough to secure a deal.

Brentford’s change of stance has been met with resistance from United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and director of football Jason Wilcox, who are said to value Mbeumo at that same £65m point, reports the Guardian.

Arsenal transfer news: Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and more

12:08

,

Chris Wilson

Arsenal are setting in motion the first steps of a productive summer as they look to buck their trend of second-place finishes next term.

It was once again a case of close but not close enough for Mikel Arteta’s side in 2024/25. Finishing second fiddle to the Premier League champions for a third successive season, the Gunners endured another trophyless campaign after their Champions League push fell at the hands of eventual winners PSG.

With the transfer window having re-opened on 16 June, a striker remains top of the club’s shopping list, and it looks like they’ll get one soon as they have struck an agreement with Sporting over a move for Viktor Gyokeres.

Elsewhere, deals for midfielders and defenders are being pursued, with Noni Madueke set to sign and Ebere Eze being considered.

New sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the club’s transfer dealings, and Arsenal will be hoping he can replicate his Atleti exploits in London as Arteta looks to lead the club back to the Premier League pinnacle for the first time since 2006.

Here’s everything you need to know about Arsenal’s summer transfer plans.

Liverpool transfer news: Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Jean-Philippe Mateta and more

10:54

,

Chris Wilson

Liverpool are bracing for a busy summer to build on this season’s Premier League title success.

Arne Slot orchestrated a stunning debut campaign at Anfield, inheriting a stacked squad from Jurgen Klopp before taking English football by storm to seal a record-equalling 20th top-flight crown for the club.

The summer months of 2024 hardly shaped the season that followed for Liverpool, and Slot has already proven that he doesn’t require overwhelming transfer activity to be successful. Last summer, he saw just two arrivals come through the door in the form of Giorgi Mamardashvili (who was immediately loaned back to Valencia) and Federico Chiesa, who played a total of just 104 minutes in the Premier League.

But with Trent Alexander-Arnold heading for the exit and a Premier League title to defend, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are expected to engage in a substantial recruitment drive over the coming months.

And the early signs are extremely promising for Reds fans, with Jeremy Frimpong having signed from Bayer Leverkusen before Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez followed through the door.

Here’s everything you need to know about Liverpool’s summer transfer plans.

Rashford is among five players to have informed United they wish to explore a future away from Old Trafford, where he came through the academy and scored 138 goals in 426 first-team appearances.
