Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United are among those to watch in the finals days of the January transfer window as clubs in the Premier League and across the world look to wrap up deals before the deadline.
The Gunners are desperate to sign a striker but face competition from United over Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres, after Mikel Arteta’s side were told that RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko will not be an option this month.
Arne Slot’s Reds continue to negotiate with soon-to-be out-of-contract trio Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the right-back linked with a possible free transfer to Real Madrid.
Manchester United have been linked with Wolves pair Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, with the cub also opening talks with Lecce for defender Patrick Dorgu as Ruben Amorim prioritises signing a left back this month. But the club need to sell to buy, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony all set to leave.
Elsewhere, Manchester City announced the signing of defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Chelsea could negotiate a swap deal with Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, inserting out-of-favour striker Christopher Nkunku into a deal.

Mike Jones
Manchester City have signed defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for €40m, plus add-ons.
The 20-year-old, who will become the first Uzbekistan international to play in the Premier League, has signed a four-and-a-half year contract at the Etihad Stadium.
His arrival kicks off City’s January buying as Pep Guardiola has started rebuilding his team in a spending spree that will cost well over £100m.

Arsenal exits likely?

Chris Wilson
While plenty of rumours are linking Arsenal with a forward signing, who could be on their way out the door at the Gunners?
With rumours persisting that Martin Zubimendi will leave in summer, it is assumed that at least one of Jorginho and Thomas Partey will leave the club this summer. Jorginho had previously been in talks with Flamengo, but his wage demands are so far seen as unreasonable.
Kieran Tierney is also reportedly close to a move away, with reports emerging last week claiming that he had reached an agreement on personal terms with old club Celtic.
In addition, Arsenal are said to be open to offers for Oleksandr Zinchenko, with Dortmund apparently interested according to Sky Sports.
City to target Raphinha?

Potentially a more far-fetched report from Spain, as Catalan outlet El Nacional reports that Manchester City will target Barcelona winger Raphinha as one one of their next signings, with the Catalan club reportedly wanting €100m for the Brazilian.

Some fairly big news in the world of managers recently, as The Telegraph reports that Ange Postecoglou’s job is safe for now.
The report says that the Australian “retains the support of Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy and the club’s board”, and “there is currently no suggestion that Postecoglou’s job is on the line”.
In addition, Spurs are not said to be assessing Postecoglou’s situation on a “game-by-game basis”.

Man Utd face stumbling block in effort to send Antony on loan to Real Betis
17:00
,
Miguel Delaney
Real Betis want to take Antony on loan from Manchester United but there is still a considerable distance in what proportion of the Brazilian’s wages the Spanish club will pay.
The Old Trafford hierarchy are intent on overhauling the squad, but they first need to clear the wage bill in order to meet restrictions from Profit and Sustainability Rules. Antony is on a vast salary, reported to be around £200,000 a week, having been handed a major contract after moving to Manchester from Ajax in 2022.
Betis are keen to take the 24-year-old on a temporary deal, but there is currently distance between the two clubs on how much of his salary will be paid by the Spanish club. United would naturally want Betis to pay the wages in their entirety, but that option isn’t currently on the table. There is hope that a deal will eventually be done.

Liverpool latest

,
Chris Wilson
Liverpool have been one of the quieter clubs in this market, with rumours mainly linking them to players leaving Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold remains the main member of the squad linked to a move away. Real Madrid were leading the chase with the defender in the final six months of his contract, and that seems to still be the case.
Mo Salah has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but those links are a little less concrete than those of Alexander-Arnold.
But the bigger questions revolve around potential signings, with the club reportedly set to miss out on Martin Zubimendi.
Nevertheless, few rumours remain around the club, though that could change in the last days of the window following the Jota news.
In previous days, the club has been linked to forwards including Bryan Mbeumo, Rayan Cherki and Brahim Diaz, while Milos Kerkez is reportedly a summer target at left-back.

Could this news force Liverpool into the market?
Diogo Jota will be out for several weeks with a muscle problem as the striker faces a second spell on the sidelines this season.
The Portugal international, who spent seven weeks on the sidelines in autumn with a rib injury, missed Saturday’s win at Brentford and will sit out Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Lille.
Liverpool are likely to be without him for matches including their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham and the rearranged Merseyside derby at Goodison Park while they will have to wait and see if he is fit for next month’s trip to Manchester City.

Sky Sports have issued a brief update on Arsenal’s search for a striker this month.
Reporter Dharmesh Sheth states that the club “continue to work behind the scenes to see what is possible”, with “both short-term and long-term options being considered”.
The update adds that the Gunners won’t panic, only dipping into the market “if the finances are right – and the player is the right character for the squad”.
Mikel Arteta’s side continue to be linked with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, while links to Sporting lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres appear to have calmed down.
Other names on the reported list of targets include Dusan Vlahovic and even Victor Osimhen.
However, several targets currently play for Champions league clubs, which makes the situation more difficult.
“Those clubs do not want to lose their players and are likely to charge a premium,” adds Sheth.

Manchester United eye Patrick Dorgu as first recruit of troubled Ruben Amorim era

Manchester United are interested in signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, as they look to make a wing back the first recruit of the Ruben Amorim era.
The 20-year-old Denmark international, who has won four caps, is on United’s radar as they search for signings who suit Amorim’s style of play.
Dorgu, an international teammate of Rasmus Hojlund, broke into Lecce’s team last season, and could address United’s lack of left-footed options on that flank.

Manchester United are looking at Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri as an alternative at left-back.
Ruben Amorim has made the position a priority this January as he seeks tactical balance for his team. Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes is the top choice, having worked with Amorim before, but United are currently a significant distance from matching his €60m asking price and vast wages.
The club need to sell players in order to meet those demands but, with PSG also preferring to keep the player, the Old Trafford hierarchy have naturally looked further on their list of options.
