The summer transfer window is up and running with a shortened period between 1 June and 10 June enabling business to be done ahead of the Club World Cup.
Manchester City, who have agreed a fee to sign AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, and Chelsea will represent the Premier League at the tournament, but it is champions Liverpool who are busy already having seen a club-record bid for Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz reportedly rebuffed, watching goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher leave for Brentford and wrapping up a deal to bring Jeremie Frimpong to Anfield by triggering his £29.5m release clause.
Manchester United have an awful lot of work to do in the window after a disastrous season, though Matheus Cunha will sign from Wolves for £62.5m, and Bryan Mbeumo is edging closer to joining with the Brentford forward seemingly keen on a switch despite huge wage demands. Captain Bruno Fernandes also provided a boost by turning down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
Arsenal, meanwhile, may have hit a snag in their attempted addition of Martin Zubimendi but Mikel Arteta has sanctioned talks with RB Leipzig over striker Benjamin Sesko in their ongoing pursuit for a No 9.

That will enable him to take part in the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States, though if he travels with the team it will means he will miss the European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia.

Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa admits a return to Italy is “something to think about” this summer after becoming all but an afterthought during his first season at Anfield.
“That’s something to think about during the summer,” he said.
“My family, my agent and I have a great relationship with Liverpool, and the goal is to be ready for the pre-season. We’ll find the best solution for everyone.
“I work every day with a Liverpool programme to be in top shape for the tests on July 8.
“While out of the squad (at Juventus), I was able to train in great condition, but I missed playing friendlies. I had to start from scratch at Liverpool and that held me back.
“I hope (next season) it’s my season. My dream is to participate in the World Cup.”

Inter Milan are still pursuing Cesc Fabregas despite the fact the former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder appeared to commit to his role at Como.
Inter are after a new coach after Simone Inzaghi left his post following Saturday’s Champions League final demolition.
And according to Sky Italy, Inter are still banking on Como to give them the green light to speak to Fabregas, hoping their resolute stance will soften in the days to come.
However, they face an uphill battle after the Spaniard seemed in no desperate position to move to the San Siro this summer.

Spurs are set to visit South Korea again later this summer for pre-season - the third time in four years they have travelled to Son's homeland to prepare for a new campaign.
Even though Son - who is currently on international duty - only managed 11 goals last term, which is his lowest return since his debut season, his global status offers enormous commercial value to the club.
Son is not the only key figure with an uncertain future with no clarity over head coach Postecoglou, who remains in the dark as to whether he will get a third season at Tottenham.

Tottenham will only listen to significant offers for captain Son Heung-min this summer amid renewed interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, the PA news agency understands.
Son was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia two years ago, but rejected advances to stick around for the start of Ange Postecoglou's tenure.
Postecoglou subsequently named Son as Spurs captain and last month the South Korean forward led the team to Europa League success to achieve his goal of winning silverware at the club.
Speculation over Son's future has been rife during his 10th season at Tottenham and whilst the club triggered a 12-month option in his deal in January, he is set to enter the final year of his contract in July.
Son will also turn 33 next month and was affected by injury problems during the 2024-25 campaign, but the Premier League club will only let their talismanic skipper leave for a significant transfer fee, PA understands.

Luke Baker
As a reminder, here’s the news that emerged this morning about Bryan Mbeumo’s potential move to Manchester United.
Mbeumo is keen on a move and talks are underway between the two clubs, with Brentford wanting at least £60m for the 25-year-old forward.
Now The Times have revealed Mbeumo’s wage demands, with £250k per week the staggering amount he is said to be desiring.
That would be five times his current £50k p/w salary with the Bees and although United are looking to offload two of their higher earners, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, who are both on about £300,000 a week, this would be a significant addition.
Mbeumo has scored 29 goals and produced 14 assists in the Premier League over the past two seasons, while his versatility in terms of playing on the right or through the middle is seen as a bonus.

United are yet to agree a fee with Brentford for Mbeumo, who has attracted attention from Newcastle and could be valued at around £60m.
