THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Thursday that certain social aid programs connected to transportation would continue through the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Nov. 2, 2026.
Acting LTFRB Chairman Greg Pua Jr. said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has excluded from the election ban the Service Contracting Program (SCP) — which includes the EDSA Busway Extension and Love Bus Libreng Sakay project — and the Fuel Subsidy Program (FSP), which includes both the one-time fuel subsidy and the P12 per-liter fuel discount.
The SCP provides support based on actual and validated transport services rendered, while the FSP offers targeted assistance to qualified transport operators and drivers, helping them cope with higher fuel costs and continue operations.
“On behalf of the public utility vehicle operators and the commuting public, the LTFRB sincerely expresses its gratitude to the Comelec under Chairman Garcia (Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia) for understanding the concerns we raised,” Pua said.
“This only affirms that we share the same direction we wish to pursue: to maximize all necessary assistance for the Filipino people at a time when they need the government the most,” he added.
