Scottie Scheffler has struggled to replicate the form he showed last season so far in 2026.
However, Scheffler still has a win, three runner-up finishes and seven top-5s to his name in 11 starts this season.
The 29-year-old has the lowest scoring average, is ranked first in strokes gained total and sits top of the FedEx Cup points list.
So why is it that Scottie Scheffler simply hasn’t looked right almost every single time he has played this season?

Scheffler is still the best golfer on the planet, by quite some distance as well.
However, there is definitely something missing. He just hasn’t been the same golfer this season, despite recording some really impressive results.
Trey Wingo’s response when asked what is wrong with Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler finished third at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson last week, finishing behind second-placed Si Woo Kim and the eventual champion Wyndham Clark.
The American would have been incredibly frustrated that he failed to win, but there was little he could have done after Clark posted a final-round 60 on Sunday.
Well-known golf analyst Trey Wingo has been speaking about Scheffler’s form so far this season on his ‘Straight Facts Homie’ podcast.
Wingo responded when he was asked what he believes is wrong with the world number one right now.

“You know, Scottie Scheffler didn’t win again, and he was trying to repeat as the champion at the CJ CUP, the Byron Nelson,“ Wingo said.
“Scottie has one win this year, and he has a couple of seconds, and thirds, and fourths.
“People are saying, ‘What’s wrong with Scottie Scheffler?’
“The answer, I would say, is, there’s nothing wrong with Scottie Scheffler.
“He shot 6-under on Sunday, and still didn’t win, because Wyndham Clark went global thermal nuclear war with the putter.
“Like, sometimes, the other guy just beats you. That’s the problem with golf. You can’t play defence, right? You can only do what you can do.“
Scottie Scheffler would have taken a final round 65 says Wingo
Wingo suggested that Scheffler would’ve taken shooting a final-round 65 on Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch, if it were offered to him before he teed off.
“If you would have told Scottie Scheffler, okay, you’re two back going into Sunday, you’re playing with the leader, and you’re going to shoot 6-under. Would you take it?
“He would’ve said, Hell, yeah, I would have taken it.
“So, Scottie Scheffler is fine, okay? He’s fine.“
I’m sorry, but I don’t agree with that take at all.
6-under was never going to be enough to get the job done on Sunday. Even if Clark had not gone nuclear, Scheffler would have had to shoot a round of 63 to force a playoff with Si Woo Kim.
There is absolutely no way that the world number one would have accepted a round of 65 on Sunday if it was offered to him.
