Tributes to farmer and his son killed in tragic silage tank incident

  • Alan Ford, 72, and his son Rick, 42, have died after falling into an industrial silage tank at a farm in Aston by Budworth, Cheshire.
  • Emergency services were called to the farm at around 12.20pm on Wednesday, where both men were rescued from the tank but pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Tributes have been paid by the Cheshire Agricultural Society, where Alan served as a past chairman until retiring in April and Rick worked as a director for several years.
  • The society praised the Ford family for working tirelessly on its behalf for many years and extended deep sympathy and prayers to their relatives.
  • Cheshire Constabulary has launched an investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal accident, and next of kin have been informed.
