
KOTA BELUD: Police arrested three men to assist with investigations into a public brawl that was recorded and went viral on social media here Tuesday.
Kota Belud District Police Chief Supt Khairul Shah Peri said the police detected the circulating video at around 2.30pm, which showed several men allegedly involved in a fight in a public area.
He said investigations revealed that the incident occurred at around 9.30am in front of a grocery store premises by the roadside in Kota Belud.
“Police detained three men at around 3.30pm to assist with investigations, whilst three other suspects are still being traced,” he said in a statement Wednesday.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting in a public place with weapons.
Following the incident, police advised the public not to make any speculation regarding the event that could compromise the investigation.
Any witnesses with information regarding the incident are urged to step forward to the Kota Belud District Police Headquarters to assist with inquiries.
