Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet US President Donald Trump in Washington on Tuesday, a White House official said, amid renewed efforts to end the war with Russia.
"President Zelensky is slated to meet with President Trump at the White House on Tuesday," the White House official told AFP on condition of anonymity on Friday.
Zelenskyy said this week he had spoken with Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff and the US president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as part of efforts to revive stalled talks aimed at ending the four-year war.
US-led efforts to end the war have stalled as Washington shifted its focus to the conflict with Iran.
Trump and Zelenskyy have had a tense relationship, ranging from a heated Oval Office clash in February 2025 to warmer ties in recent months.
This week, the Ukrainian president met right-wing US influencer and Trump ally Laura Loomer, in another sign of improving relations.
The 33-year-old conservative commentator, who has millions of social media followers, has recently softened her stance on Ukraine.
"This is everyday for every Ukrainian, I feel like such an a**hole for minimizing the struggle of Ukrainians for the last five years," she said of the experience.
Trump reposted one of Loomer's social media posts about her Zelensky meeting on Thursday with the caption: "Very good!!
Zelenskyy is due to meet Trump on the same day as a memorial service in Washington for US Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime supporter of Ukraine who died earlier this month at the age of 71.
Trump is due to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the same day as Zelenskyy.
