Trump briefly distracted by rain during interview, prompting awkward silence

President Donald Trump stopped mid-sentence during an interview with NBC News aired Sunday (7 June) after heavy rain striking the roof caused a loud interruption.

As the downpour intensified, Trump paused his answer and remarked: “Nice rain.”

Kristen Welker, host of Sunday news show Meet the Press, later revealed that the interview was paused for around five minutes.

During the interview, Trump discussed Iran as the war entered its 100th day. The US president claimed Iran is “desperate” to make a deal but is “too proud” to admit it when he was asked why an agreement had not yet been reached.

Trump later abruptly ended the interview and stormed out after he was challenged by Welker on his false claims about the 2020 election.
