A senior Trump administration disaster response official claims the president’s Truth Social platform is blocking his posts after he claimed to be teleported to a Waffle House.
“I’ve tried to post it six times,” Gregg Phillips, who leads the FEMA Office of Response and Recovery, wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday, tagging the platform’s CEO Devin Nunes. “Why are you blocking me and my ability to respond?”
The post, reported by Mediaite, appears to have since been taken down.
The Independent has contacted Truth Social and FEMA for comment.
Phillips, who was appointed in December, made headlines earlier this month after CNN revealed past statements where he made violent comments about Joe Biden and claimed to have experienced teleportation on multiple occasions, including to Waffle House.
“I was with my boys one time and I was telling them I was gonna go to Waffle House and get Waffle House. And I ended up at a Waffle House – this was in Georgia and I end up at a Waffle House like 50 miles away from where I was,” Phillips said on a podcast last year.
The official, who previously directed the Mississippi Department of Human Services, has continued to reaffirm his claims he experienced teleportation, despite criticisms from Democrats who say the remarks raise doubts about his fitness for office.
“I know what I’ve experienced,” Phillips wrote in one recent post.
Phillips has also claimed he was taken “completely out of context” by the CNN “hit” on him, and that his experiences were “part of my spiritual journey” while he was suffering from cancer.
Amid ongoing scrutiny of his record, Phillips was taken off the schedule last week at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing where he was slated to testify about the impact of the ongoing partial government shutdown on FEMA, which is part of the currently defunded Department of Homeland Security.
At the hearing, Rep. Bennie Thompson, the ranking member on the committee, spoke of his doubts about Phillips.
“FEMA is on its third unqualified acting administrator in 15 months,” Thompson said. “And the witness that was scheduled to testify today, Mr. Gregg Phillips, raises serious concerns.”
“Mr. Phillips reportedly claims to have been involuntarily teleported multiple times, including once to a Waffle House in Georgia,” the Democratic rep added.
