Trump’s newest monument to himself is an airport

  • Palm Beach International Airport in South Florida has been officially renamed Donald J Trump International Airport, following a change enacted by the state's legislature and signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
  • Donald Trump expressed pride on Truth Social, predicting that the airport, currently the 51st-largest in the U.S. and the third-busiest in the Miami metropolitan area, will become "one of the Greatest and Most Spectacular Airports anywhere in the World."
  • The airport's three-letter international code will officially change from "PBI" to "DJT" on August 18, impacting airline reservation systems, ticketing, and baggage tags.
  • Despite the renaming, flight attendants have been given leeway to refer to the destination as "West Palm Beach," and airport systems will continue to use "PBI" until the code change is fully implemented.
  • Trump's personal jet, dubbed "Trump Force One," was the first plane to land on the runway under the new name, with Eric Trump announcing the christening and praising his father's contributions to Florida and the country.
