Here is where they build a bond between human beings and animals.
Once a veterinary clinic, it has transformed into a pet lifestyle store, offering various pet products, pet grooming services, pet boarding, and interesting items for pet parents.
TTDI Pawsome Paradise CEO Efi Eqbal said, “Our pet shop strongly believes in the adage that sharing is caring. We will soon conduct pet care workshops, talks and exciting events to get the pet-loving community of TTDI and beyond, to participate and share their personal experiences and knowledge on pet wellness.”
Their passion for giving back to the community sees TTDI Pawsome Paradise partnering with local animal non-governmental organisation, Pet Adoption Network (PAN), where they sell items from which the proceeds go to the association. They have been doing rescue, re-homing and trap and release work on stray cats and dogs since 2006.
Last month was the grand opening of TTDI Pawsome Paradise. With its dedication to providing exceptional products and services, it hopes to be a welcoming hub for pet parents to gather, shop, and build true, supportive, life-long friendships. But the greatest difference is in their tagline: “Something for you” – TTDI Pawsome Paradise at 119, Jalan Aminuddin Baki, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, offers fun and kitschy items for parents – T-shirts, little vases; costume jewellery to watches to coasters; and soon to come are fabrics and rugs.
“We offer iconic cat and dog products for the avid pet parent. The name TTDI Pawsome Paradise may be new but many guests who attended the event have been supportive, lifetime clients of its predecessor, the Taman Tun Dr Ismail Veterinary Clinic. The clinic was set up by Dr Clement Anthony, who had been practising for over three decades. When he passed on in November 2022, his wife and business partner Anelyn – now the COO of TTDI Pawsome Paradise – ran the clinic with the help of their close friends, couple Benjamin and Efi Eqbal. Early this year, Efi proposed having a pet lifestyle store, and Anelyn invited her into a partnership.”
The history of this store further cements its commitment to the welfare of cats and dogs. And Efi’s friend and PAN founder, Sherrina Krishnan-Leyow said: “TTDi is one of the most mature animal-friendly communities in the city. And I am so excited to see a space like TTDI Pawsome Paradise. It is more than a place to spoil your pets or yourself, but is a place that serves as a platform for engagement and discussion. It’s all exciting for pet lovers.”
Something for your furbabies. “As a parent to 11 indoor furkids, I sometimes wish I could get everything under one roof,” said Efi. “So, we figured, why not marry the two”.
They have all things pet-related – especially for cats, and more to come for dogs – to be found under one roof here. They bring in rarer, health-related pet foods and treats, and it is quite amazing to see the many different types of cat furniture they offer too. Their range of pet clothes and accessories is also extensive.
These carefully curated and designed items are from Europe, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand, mixed in with products from local suppliers. They are also keen supporters of small businesses and will bring in local products by some companies soon. “As cottage businesses go, it takes time to produce their goods and we weren’t able to showcase much on our grand opening day,” said Efi while showing around Pawsome. https://youtu.be/nTRHacXsY58?feature=shared
Pet Wellness is Your Wellness. Many pet parents today would attest that having pets is no longer just a simple act of kindness. According to one of their long-term clients, a human doctor, Dr Shahrul Bahyah Kamaruzzaman, “I believe many people are beginning to understand us pet-crazy people who regard our pets as family members – especially since the Covid-19 lockdowns. People began seeing the merits of having a furry companion at that time, especially for those who are single and living alone.”
TTDI Pawsome Paradise assures its clients they will continue providing general wellness checks for their furbabies. “We didn’t want my almost 20 years of experience as a vet nurse to be for nothing. And I thought it best combined with Efi’s experience as a pet parent and business consultant, to make this change. The fact that we are like family with Dr Clement and I looking after all her furbabies from when they were tiny, is a bonus,” added Anelyn.
According to Efi, “I have a 10kg boy who is partially deaf with limited peripheral vision who doesn’t like people besides my husband and I. “And Efi also understands animals,” said Anelyn. She added that among the many things Efi dabbles in, is pet aroma therapeutics (therapeutic aromatherapy). She began studying and learning animal-specific aromatherapy and was surprised to discover that too many products in the market were using unsafe, unnatural fragrances and essential oils that are dangerous to cats or dogs. She began developing her range of pet-safe products.
“It has helped heal skin and coat disorders in many cats and dogs from the time the clinic carried Efi’s range as a natural complementary therapy and home maintenance care,” added Anelyn.
From Past to Present. TTDI Pawsome Paradise hopes to follow through from its past with a personal touch, just as Dr Clement had run the vet clinic. They aim to provide the best in their grooming and cat boarding services. “We use only the very best in grooming products from our in-house brand LEO,” said Anelyn, adding that what was especially important from a veterinary perspective is that your cats and dogs should not smell like perfume. “They should smell clean and fresh. By adding colognes and other things that are pleasing to us as humans, you may be harming your furbabies,” Efi added.
To board your furbaby at their facility, you will need to show proof of an updated vaccination and declare any ill-health or conditions they may have. This is to protect all cats boarded with them. They also welcome elderly and special needs cats with medications as Anelyn is supervise on their care. However, you would be required to provide your current vet’s details in case of emergencies while in boarding. So, they may do the necessary if at all needed.
