PETALING JAYA: The revocation of the appointments of 10 Negeri Sembilan executive councillors by Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has now been formalised through a state gazette.
Dated today, the gazette states that Tuanku Muhriz withdrew his assent and revoked the appointments under Article XXXVIII(5) of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959.
The provision states that an executive councillor, other than the menteri besar, holds office at the pleasure of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.
According to the gazette, the 10 councillors had taken and signed their oaths of allegiance before Tuanku Muhriz on Aug 7 before assuming office.
It said the ruler subsequently determined that they had breached their oaths.
“Therefore, I hereby withdraw my assent and revoke your appointments as members of the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council,” the gazette stated.
The revocation was recorded as taking effect on Sept 20.
The 10 councillors named in the gazette are Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli, Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris, Datuk Mustapha Nagoor, Siow Kong Choon, Siti Nur Umaira Hasim, Datuk Mohd Asna Amin, Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali, Suhaimizan Bizar, Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa and Datuk Razali Abu Samah.
The gazette was issued under the authority of Tuanku Muhriz and published today, formalising the earlier revocation of the appointments.
The development is the latest turn in an ongoing constitutional dispute in Negeri Sembilan involving Tuanku Muhriz, Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim and the state executive council.
