It was challenging for the journalists to hear and comprehend what former Finance Minister Tun Dr. Daim Zainuddin said during the news conference. His spouse, Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid, decided to adjourn the press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Court entrance less than two minutes into it.

Tun Daim's speech was replaced with a new statement that was distributed to the media.

According to Sinar Harian, Tun Daim stated that he would not be discussing the charges against him that are politically motivated.

“In 2018, like many others who aspire to a new Malaysia, I backed Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Harapan. Back then, the nation was plagued by the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) controversy; nevertheless, in addition to unfulfilled reform pledges, we are currently under the scrutiny of an administration that mishandles authority,” said Daim.

In a statement released on Monday, he claimed that “foxes with chicken feathers cheer for reform but do the opposite.”

According to Tun Daim's allegation, Anwar nominated a person who is under investigation for corruption as Deputy Prime Minister for him to become Prime Minister.

He said that 47 corruption allegations against the Deputy Prime Minister were withdrawn shortly after, as if by magic.

"Is this the Malaysia that was promised? To be 'overboard' is to lack honesty, integrity, and good administration.

"It is simple to utilize independent organizations like the Attorney General, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), and the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) to target political opponents.

He claimed that anybody who speaks out or criticizes the government or Anwar is arbitrarily targeted by the Sedition Act, the Communications and Multimedia Act, and the Peaceful Assembly Act. The minister even threatened to deploy police cars to their homes.

“Anwar needs to know that there are roots to all of this,” said Tun Daim.

He clarified that the ringgit kept falling, the economy stalled, and the people's misery persisted while he was preoccupied with making amends for previous wrongdoings.

He claimed that even though he was getting older and didn't have the same strength as before, his confidence remained unwavering.

“I'll let Anwar hurl everything at me; I don't really care about what happens to me. However, I worry about my nation's future. I hereby implore you to take whatever action you can to protect and rescue this nation. Don't be scared to criticize Anwar and his government. He stated, "The people are accountable to their government, not the other way around.”
