Social media went viral over the actions of former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, who is allegedly in possession of billions of ringgit in cash.
In a one-minute and twenty-six-second video on Malay Digest, Dr. Mahathir was seen searching several locations, including behind the sofa and bed and behind the television, for the purported RM3 billion.
According to Astro Awani, the former member of parliament from Langkawi stated that he had searched for the money for two years without finding it.
"I'm (allegedly) looking for RM3 billion in money. The search is still unsuccessful. I haven't found the money in the two years that I've been looking for it," mocked the former Prime Minister.
Dr. Mahathir's action was interpreted as mockery of the allegations made by certain parties that, during his tenure as prime minister, he embezzled billions of dollars from the government.
The video also demonstrates that despite looking in other locations, he was unable to locate the money.
Dr. Mahathir said that the money was probably there and that he agreed with the idea of continuing the hunt in Switzerland.
"Let’s travel to Switzerland because the billions might be hidden there. Let's go!," said Tun Mahathir.
According to Sinar Harian, former prime minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad challenged the prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to disclose the location of government funds that were purportedly stolen by Tun M.
Tun Dr. Mahathir insisted that he would be willing to return all of the money Anwar claimed he stole, and give it to the underprivileged. But, Anwar must first disclose the location of the funds, said the former prime minister.
“Maybe it's in a Swiss bank. I'd be happy to accompany Anwar to a Swiss bank and request that they show me my account, just as Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has an Ambank account.” said Tun M.
